Pasadena will officially usher in the holiday season on Wednesday, December 3, as families, neighbors, and local businesses come together for the 15th-annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Lake Shore Plaza. The celebration begins at 5:30 p.m., with the lighting of the plaza’s tree set for 6:00 p.m.
For many in the community, the event marks the true start of the season, and this year’s gathering promises the same warmth, tradition, and festive cheer that Pasadena families look forward to each December. Hosted by the Pasadena Business Association, the evening’s activities are free and open to the public, inviting residents of all ages to experience the magic of the holidays right in the heart of town.
Guests will be greeted with classic Christmas music from DJ Marcus, whose playlist will set the tone for a night filled with familiar melodies and joyful spirit. Chick-Fil-A Jacobsville will be on-site, accompanied by the beloved Chick-Fil-A cow, offering families a fun photo opportunity. ACE Hardware will host a selection of games and activities, adding a playful energy to the plaza, while Two Rivers Steak & Fish House will share freshly made cookies just steps away from the tree.
A special highlight of the evening will come from local author Nate Whiting, who will treat attendees to a live reading from his published book, The Tale of the Christmas Wish Crackler. His appearance adds a local literary touch to the festivities and offers children a story moment they won’t soon forget.
As the community counts down to 6:00 p.m., anticipation builds for the tree’s official illumination – a moment that transforms Lake Shore Plaza into a glowing symbol of the season. And right on cue, Santa Claus and the Lake Shore Volunteer Fire Department will make their grand arrival immediately following the lighting, ready to greet families and pose for photos.
In the spirit of giving, the Pasadena Business Association will be accepting nonperishable food and monetary donations during the event to support their annual “A Child’s Christmas” gift drive. Community members are encouraged to contribute and help brighten the holidays for local families in need.
Once lit, the tree will continue to shine each evening from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. throughout the season, offering a nightly reminder of community connection and holiday joy.
So bundle up the kids, add a little jingle to your step, and bring your best holiday attire. Pasadena’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is ready to welcome the season – and the community that makes it shine.
