This Sunday morning in Pasadena, the parking lot of the Riviera Beach Volunteer Fire Company will be taken over by locally owned small businesses – but not just any kind of small businesses. Instead of elaborate booth structures, you’ll see tables draped in colorful cloths, hand-painted signs advertising “Homemade Slime” or “Custom Bracelets,” and the proud faces of young entrepreneurs ready to make their first sales.
On August 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Children’s Entrepreneur Market will give local kids a chance to do something many only dream of – run their very own business. For one day, they’ll step into the shoes of shopkeepers, bakers, artists, and inventors, turning big ideas into real-world ventures.
The market is part of a nationwide movement to teach kids entrepreneurial skills in an environment that’s both safe and empowering. Children as young as five will greet customers, set prices, handle money, and even learn how to market their products – all while parents watch proudly from the sidelines.
“Parents are there to support, but the kids are the ones in charge,” said event coordinator Karen Diaz. “It’s incredible to watch them take ownership. By the end of the day, you can see how proud they are – not just of what they’ve sold, but of what they’ve learned.”
Past markets have featured everything from hand-painted pet portraits to home-baked dog treats, each table offering a peek into the unique talents of Pasadena’s youngest minds. Visitors can expect lively booths, eager sales pitches, and plenty of charm as these mini-business owners put their skills to the test.
For many families, it’s also a community celebration. Neighbors stop by to browse the booths, chat with vendors, and cheer on the kids. Some even leave inspired, reminiscing about their own childhood lemonade stands.
Whether you come to shop, support, or simply soak in the excitement, the Children’s Entrepreneur Market on August 24 promises to be more than just a marketplace – it’s a glimpse into the future, one handmade bracelet or painted sign at a time.
