After more than two years of anticipation following the May 12, 2023 fire that closed the restaurant, Anthony’s has officially reopened – and it’s safe to say the wait was well worth it.
From the moment you walk in, it’s immediately clear that this isn’t just a reopening – it’s a transformation. The space at 8010 Hog Neck Road has been thoughtfully reimagined into something far more refined than before. Elegant lighting casts a warm glow across the dining room, while exposed wood beams and striking marble walls create a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. The upscale bar area adds another layer of charm, and with plentiful seating throughout, the restaurant feels both spacious and inviting.

We visited for lunch on a weekday just one week after reopening. Despite the early stage, a few tables were already filled – a promising sign. As we settled in, we couldn’t help but take in the ambiance. Every detail, from the finishes to the layout, reflects a deliberate shift toward a more elevated dining experience.

Service matched the setting. We were promptly greeted with ice water and a bread basket accompanied by dipping oil, a simple but appreciated touch. Our server was attentive, friendly, and accommodating throughout the meal, striking that perfect balance between professionalism and approachability.

The menu offers a wide range of options, and perhaps most surprisingly, the pricing remains very reasonable given the upscale feel.
We began with the Mozzarella Caprese ($14), a generous portion that delivered on both freshness and flavor. It was a strong start and set the tone for what followed.

For our entrees, the Bistro Steak Salad ($19) stood out as a hearty yet balanced option. Featuring fresh field greens, roasted red peppers, pine nuts, roma tomatoes, gorgonzola cheese, and tender filet mignon, all tied together with a house balsamic dressing, it offered a satisfying mix of textures and flavors.
The Eggplant Parmigiana ($16) was equally impressive. Served with your choice of pasta or vegetables- we opted for the pasta – it featured perfectly pan-fried eggplant layered with rich tomato sauce and melted mozzarella. The cheese was undoubtedly the highlight: fresh, creamy, and exactly what you hope for in a classic Italian dish.

To finish, we couldn’t pass up dessert. With several tempting options available, we chose a timeless favorite – tiramisu. This Italian classic delivered the perfect balance of flavors and textures: creamy mascarpone, bold espresso, a dusting of cocoa, and delicate, coffee-soaked ladyfingers. Light yet indulgent, it was a fitting end to the meal.

In the end, Anthony’s has truly hit a home run with its return. From the beautifully redesigned interior to the attentive service and thoughtfully prepared menu, it represents exactly the kind of dining experience this particular corner of Pasadena has been missing.
We’ll absolutely be back.
