The Pasadena Sportfishing Group’s annual Fishing Expo has been rescheduled and will now take place next weekend, February 21 and 22, at Kurtz’s Beach. The event was originally planned for this weekend but was postponed due to the recent snowstorm.
The two-day expo will run from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $5 per day, with free entry for children 12 and under. Organizers say the change in dates will allow for safer conditions while still delivering what has become one of the area’s most anticipated outdoor sports events.
Now in its 35th year, the Fishing Expo draws hundreds of anglers and outdoor enthusiasts from across the region. Often billed as the largest local expo of its kind in Maryland, the event features dozens of vendors offering new and used fishing tackle, crabbing supplies, and nautical-themed crafts. This year’s expo will also include artisan distilleries, food vendors, oysters on the half shell, cold beer, and a full bar. As a newer addition, hunting and gun sportsmanship vendors will also be on site.
The expo is hosted by the Pasadena Sportfishing Group, a nonprofit organization founded in 1991 by George Bentz. The group is dedicated to sharing fishing knowledge, promoting conservation, and fostering camaraderie among anglers of all ages and experience levels. Over the years, it has become a cornerstone of the local fishing community.
Beyond the annual expo, the Pasadena Sportfishing Group is known for its commitment to youth involvement in the sport. The organization hosts two children’s fishing derbies each year, held in June and September.
Organizers encourage both seasoned anglers and newcomers to attend the rescheduled expo, noting that it offers something for the entire family while supporting a long-standing local organization.
