Historic Pasadena farm invites visitors for a day of hands-on activities, living history, and seasonal celebration this Sunday

Historic Hancock’s Resolution will celebrate both the season and local history during its annual Fall Harvest Festival and War of 1812 Commemoration on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event, hosted at the historic farm in Pasadena, promises a full day of hands-on activities, demonstrations, and living history experiences for visitors of all ages.
Guests can step back in time to explore traditional farming and craft techniques. Visitors will have the chance to shell and grind corn, watch skilled woodcarvers at work, and take part in fun fall crafts like building a scarecrow or making a corn husk doll. Other activities include creating lavender sachets to take home.
In addition to celebrating the harvest, the event will pay tribute to the area’s War of 1812 history. The Northern Arundel Cultural Preservation Society will present exhibits and discussions highlighting the vital contributions of African Americans during the war, particularly those connected to Hancock’s Resolution. The Ship’s Company Militia will stage reenactments and cannon demonstrations, offering visitors a vivid glimpse into the lives of early 19th-century soldiers. Guests can also learn about the “Lion of Baltimore,” an American schooner that was burned in nearby Bodkin Creek just weeks before the Battle of Baltimore.
Adding to the historic atmosphere, the Chesapeake Fiber Crafters will demonstrate traditional fiber arts such as wool spinning, knitting, and Viking cord making. Their handcrafted items will also be available for purchase.
Admission to the festival is $5 per person or $10 per family, and free for Friends of Hancock’s Resolution members. The event combines the charm of fall with the depth of local history, making it a perfect outing for families, history enthusiasts, and anyone looking to experience Maryland’s heritage in a hands-on way.
