This November, step through the wardrobe and into a world of adventure as the Pasadena Theatre Company presents Narnia: The Musical at Anne Arundel Community College. The beloved community theatre group is bringing C.S. Lewis’s timeless story to life on stage in the college’s Humanities Building Lecture Hall, offering families and theatre lovers a chance to experience the magic, music, and meaning of this classic tale.
Based on Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the production follows the Pevensie siblings – Lucy, Edmund, Susan, and Peter – as they stumble into the enchanted land of Narnia. There, they encounter talking animals, fauns, and centaurs, along with the evil White Witch, who has cast a spell of eternal winter over the kingdom. With the guidance of the great lion Aslan, the children embark on a journey of bravery and faith to restore peace and hope to Narnia. The story’s themes of sacrifice, redemption, and courage are brought to life through soaring songs and heartfelt performances, making it a family-friendly production filled with both wonder and warmth.
Performances of Narnia: The Musical will take place over two weekends, beginning Friday, November 14 at 7 p.m. Additional shows are scheduled for Saturday, November 15 at 2 p.m.; Sunday, November 16 at 2 p.m. (which will include ASL interpretation); Friday, November 21 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, November 22 at both 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and a closing performance on Sunday, November 23 at 2 p.m. All performances will be held at Anne Arundel Community College, located at 101 College Parkway in Arnold, where free parking and accessible seating are available for guests.
Tickets are priced between $18 and $23 and can be purchased online through the Pasadena Theatre Company’s website at ptcshows.com. The production is directed by Angela Germanos, with musical direction by Sarah Mitchell and choreography by Camela Ebaugh and Lisa Pellittiere. Fight choreography is being led by Tyler Heroux. The company, a nonprofit organization, is known for its commitment to community engagement, accessibility, and inclusive performance opportunities, and this show continues that mission by featuring a diverse local cast and an ASL-interpreted matinee.
As the holiday season approaches, Narnia: The Musical offers a fitting celebration of hope and renewal, reminding audiences of the power of faith, friendship, and forgiveness. The Pasadena Theatre Company’s adaptation promises an enchanting mix of song, storytelling, and stagecraft that will captivate audiences of all ages. With its imaginative staging and heartfelt message, the production invites theatergoers to rediscover the magic behind the wardrobe door – and to experience, if only for an evening, the wonder of Narnia right here in Anne Arundel County.
Since its founding in 1978, the Pasadena Theatre Company has been bringing the magic of live theatre to the Anne Arundel County community. What began as a small group of passionate thespians dedicated to sharing their love of performance has grown into a respected, self-sustaining company known throughout the region for its quality productions and commitment to the arts.
In its early years, PTC staged annual musicals as fundraisers, with proceeds benefiting local schools and organizations. By 1979, the company had officially incorporated as a non-profit organization, partnering with groups such as the Northeast High School Thespians, Saint Bernadette Parish, the Pascal Senior Center, and others to produce musicals that supported community causes.
As its audience grew, PTC expanded beyond musicals, adding comedies and dramas to its repertoire—always with a focus on family-friendly entertainment. Over the years, the company has performed in schools and venues across the county, including Old Mill Senior and Middle Schools and Glen Burnie High School, helping to make live theatre accessible to new audiences.
From 1984 to 1997, PTC called Baldwin Hall in Millersville home before moving its performances to several venues across Anne Arundel County and beyond. Today, you can catch PTC productions at the Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, the Severna Park Community Center, the Catonsville Theatre Company, the Chesapeake Arts Center in Brooklyn Park, and Carroll Baldwin Hall in Savage.
The Pasadena Theatre Company is proudly supported in part by grants from the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County and by generous private donors.
